Past life Karma

The law of moral cause and effect; also a person's moral merit/demerit according to one's actions and (moreso) the inner intentions or motives which accompany them in terms of their conformity/non-conformity with dharma. One's karma is said to entail one's rebirth in order for that karma to be realized or fulfilled, and to determine the circumstances of that subsequent life. Attainment of moksha is thought to eliminate the production of karma (in the second sense) altogether, and to bring to an end the cycle of rebirth (samsara).
We need to back up a little from our discussion of Karma last month and develop a bit of an overview.

Karma is about a key that we may use to organize our life - rather than endlessly agonizing over the seemingly unexplainable, and often unexpected, events forming the fabric of our lives.

The subject of Karma is basic to all of us and this doctrine, first fully expounded in Hindu and Buddhist philosophy, is the secret to resolving many apparent mysteries.

Albert Einstein said; "God does not play dice with the Universe." It is only through understanding Karma, which does not need a personal theistic view of a God, that we can even begin to make sense of his statement.

Each of us, if we accept an ultimate purpose of self-realization, may find it useful to regularly access if we are hitting the 'target' or 'sinning' by 'missing the mark'? A New Testament writer perhaps echoed a sentiment reminiscent of Karma and ultimate spiritual goals when he wrote:

7 "Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
8 "For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."
9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."
Galatians 6:
I am not asking you to believe anything discussed here nor am I interested in interfering with your belief system.

I have to tell you that for myself, I believe in no deity, no institution, and no religion. I believe in only two categories, one of those categories is the ever-present altruistic potential of human beings. I believe in myself as a human and I believe in other human beings.
