Using
an A ahead or behind a particular alphabet would change
values differently unlike in Hebrew system.
In
the Hindu system when a vowel stands alone it receives
no number or place value, when it conjoins a consonant
it determines the value of that consonant.
When
two or more consonants are conjoined only the last
sounded has numerical value.
A decimal point can
be interjected before or after any digit
composing the number value of any given word transforming
a whole number into a fraction. Each vowel has two
place values, and the correct place is determined
by whether consonant conjoined to vowel is avarga
or varga.eg. The Sanskrit letters KI and YI will be
numbered. Vowel I represents both the hundreds place
(varga) and the thousands place(avarga).
The
varga consonant is valued at 1, while avarga
consonant Y is 3. Thus KI would be numbered as 100
because K is a varga consonant valued at 1 and I is
the hundreds place

when
joined to a varga consonant, while YI would be numbered
3000 because Y is an avarga consonant valued at
3 and I is the thousands place when joined to an
avarga consonant.
So
BUDDHa= 23,037. B is a varga consonant
valued at 23, joined to the vowel ‘U’
which as a varga place is the ten thousands place.
Thus
BU is 23,000. Ddha is
composed
of two
varga consonants.D and Dh, valued at 18 and 19,
joined to the vowel A, which is a varga place value
in the units place. Thus D + Dh=18+ 19 =37. BU conjoined
to Ddha becomes 23,000+37= 23,037.
Similarly other vowels when combined
with varga or avarga consonants produce values in
thousands, eg.U with varga consonant is 10,000.
